About
Founded in 2011 by Academy Award-winning actress and producer Viola Davis and actor-producer Julius Tennon, JuVee Productions has become one of Hollywood’s most respected production companies dedicated to amplifying underrepresented voices and culturally impactful storytelling. Headquartered in Los Angeles, the company was launched with a mission to create inclusive television, film, theater, and digital content that reflects diverse perspectives often overlooked in mainstream entertainment. Through its development and production slate, JuVee has consistently championed stories centered on Black experiences, women, and socially conscious narratives while building a reputation for prestige-level projects across multiple platforms.
JuVee Productions first gained major industry attention through projects such as the digital comedy series American Koko, the ABC true-crime documentary series The Last Defense, and acclaimed independent productions including Lila & Eve and Custody. The company later expanded into award-winning prestige filmmaking with The Woman King, the critically celebrated historical epic starring Viola Davis, which earned widespread acclaim and multiple honors including a Black Reel Award for Outstanding Film. JuVee also produced the immersive virtual reality experience Iago: The Green-Eyed Monster, which received recognition from the Tribeca Festival and won a Webby Award for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion. Other notable productions associated with the company include the documentaries Giving Voice and Silver Dollar Road, both praised for their cultural significance and powerful storytelling.
In recent years, JuVee has continued expanding its reach into major studio productions, animation, gaming, and genre storytelling. The company’s newest high-profile projects include the Amazon MGM action thriller G20, starring Viola Davis as the President of the United States, alongside upcoming productions such as the thriller Ally Clark, the Afro-fantasy adaptation The Untamed, and the animated fantasy epic Mfinda. JuVee has also entered partnerships in the gaming and anime spaces with projects like Taria & Como and collaborations with Black and Japanese-led animation studios. Beyond entertainment, the company has earned recognition for its commitment to representation and socially driven storytelling, including receiving honors celebrating faith, resilience, and diversity in media. Through film, television, theater, and emerging media, JuVee Productions continues to position itself as a major creative force shaping modern Hollywood storytelling.
