Viola Davis is one of the most accomplished and influential actresses of her generation, earning worldwide recognition for her extraordinary work across film, television, and the stage. An Academy Award, Emmy Award, two Tony Awards, and Grammy Award winner, Davis is an EGOT recipient and one of the few performers in history to achieve both EGOT status and the prestigious Triple Crown of Acting (Academy Award, Emmy Award, and Tony Award for acting). Born in St. Matthews, South Carolina, and raised in Central Falls, Rhode Island, Davis graduated from the Juilliard School before building an acclaimed career on stage, where she won Tony Awards for King Hedley II (2001) and Fences (2010), establishing herself as one of the foremost interpreters of August Wilson’s work.
