Biography
Jean Elie is a Haitian-American actor, writer, producer, director, and filmmaker known for his work across television, film, and independent entertainment. He gained widespread recognition for his recurring role as Ahmal Dee on HBO’s critically acclaimed comedy series Insecure, created by Issa Rae, where he portrayed the younger brother of Rae’s character, Issa Dee. The role established Elie as a recognizable presence in television and led to additional opportunities across scripted comedy and drama.
Following Insecure, Elie continued building a diverse television résumé with appearances in series including American Crime, The Rookie, Colin in Black & White, and HBO’s Rap Sh!t, where he portrayed Stanley. His film credits include Project X, Bodied, The Final Wish, Throwback Holiday, and other independent productions.
Elie further expanded his career by moving into writing, producing, and creating original content.
