Living Proof

Living Proof is a bold, unflinching, and ultimately life-affirming television special set in Atlanta — ground zero for the Southern HIV epidemic. At its heart are Freda Jones and Kennedi Lowman, two unstoppable forces and co-founders of LOTUS (Loving Ourselves Through Unity and Strength), a grassroots nonprofit changing the way Black women experience, talk about, and navigate life with HIV.

Blending personal storytelling, expert voices, and real-time political urgency, Living Proof sheds light on the systemic challenges Black women in the South continue to face—from healthcare inequities and stigma to the devastating impact of funding cuts. Yet Living Proof is anything but a story of despair. It’s a celebration of radical joy, sisterhood, and self-determination.

These women aren’t just surviving—they’re thriving. Through peer-led support groups, at-home testing, open conversations about PrEP, and a commitment to health on their own terms, they are redefining what it means to live well with HIV. Their work is powerful, full of heart, and profoundly necessary.
