The group trip just got bigger! Tasha Smith’s upcoming Netflix comedy feature ‘Women Like Us,’ starring Whoopi Goldberg, Jenifer Lewis, Vanessa Williams, and Vivica A. Fox, has added nine new actors to its ensemble cast.
Greg Tarzan Davis (Top Gun: Maverick), Melanie Liburd (Bad Boys: Ride or Die), Harry Lennix (The Blacklist), Joy Bryant (Parenthood), Danielle Pinnock (Ghosts), Dewayne Perkins (The Studio), Grammy-winning jazz vocalist Samara Joy, Tiffany Boone (Mufasa: The Lion King), and Gail Bean (The Drop: A Snowfall Saga) have officially joined the project.
While character details are being kept under wraps, the film follows a recently widowed woman whose lifelong best friends and sister whisk her away to the Hamptons on what would have been her 30th wedding anniversary. What starts as a weekend getaway turns into a reckoning with grief, marriage, and decades of sisterhood—and a timely reminder that dreams have no expiration date.
Ali Kinney penned the screenplay, with additional writing by Tracy Oliver. The film marks the first production collaboration between MACRO Film Studios and Higher Ground. Michelle Obama and Charles D. King executive produce, alongside producers James Lopez, Poppy Hanks, Anikah McLaren, and Mark R. Wright.
