Biography
Tisha Michelle Campbell (born October 13, 1968, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma) is an American actress and singer whose career spans over four decades across film, television, voice work, and stage. She began performing as a child on the PBS series The Big Blue Marble (1974) and made her film debut in Little Shop of Horrors (1986), followed by roles in School Daze (1988), Rooftops (1989), and Another 48 Hrs. (1990). She gained widespread recognition with her role as Gina Waters‑Payne on the hit Fox sitcom Martin (1992–1997) and later as Janet “Jay” Marie Johnson‑Kyle on ABC’s My Wife and Kids (2001–2005), earning an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series.
Campbell’s film credits include the House Party series (1990–1994), Boomerang (1992), Sprung (1997), The J Team (2021), Not Another Church Movie (2024), and the Lifetime film Be Happy (2026). On television, she has appeared in Rags to Riches (1987–1988), Rita Rocks (2008–2009), Dr. Ken (2015–2017), Outmatched (2020), Uncoupled (2022), Lopez vs Lopez (2022), and lent her voice to animated projects including Inside Job (2021–2022) and Kite Man: Hell Yeah!.
