Biography
Teyana Taylor (born December 10, 1990 in Harlem, New York City) is an American actress, singer, dancer, songwriter, choreographer, and director who has built a multifaceted career across music, film, and television. She first gained public attention as a teenager in My Super Sweet 16 (2007) and later became known for her dynamic choreography—including work on Beyoncé’s Ring the Alarm and Kanye West’s Fade—before transitioning into mainstream acting with roles in films such as Stomp the Yard: Homecoming (2010), Madea’s Big Happy Family (2011), Honey: Rise Up and Dance (2018), and the comedy sequel Coming 2 America (2021).
Taylor’s breakthrough dramatic performance came with A V Rockwell’s A Thousand and One (2023), which earned her critical acclaim and multiple Breakthrough Performance awards and nominations. Her subsequent roles in White Men Can’t Jump, The Book of Clarence (both 2023), and Tyler Perry’s Straw (2025) showcased her range across genres.
In television, she has appeared in projects from Hit the Floor and Star to the Ryan Murphy legal drama All’s Fair (2025– ), where she plays Milan. Her career reached new heights with Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another (2025), portraying Perfidia Beverly Hills—a role that garnered her the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress and historic nominations from the Academy Awards, BAFTA, Critics’ Choice, Actor Awards (SAG), and Golden Globes (among all five major U.S./UK× awards ceremonies in a single season) for Best Supporting Actress.
