Biography

Michael Anthony Beach (born October 30, 1963 in Roxbury, Massachusetts) is a seasoned American film and television actor whose career spans more than four decades and includes over 70 feature films and hundreds of hours of television. A Juilliard School alum, Beach began his professional journey on stage before earning early recognition with roles in films such as Lean on Me (1989), One False Move (1992), True Romance (1993), and Robert Altman’s ensemble Short Cuts (1993). He broke through to wider audiences with memorable turns in Waiting to Exhale (1995) and Soul Food (1997), the latter earning him critical acclaim and award nominations.

 

Beach gained mainstream TV visibility with his recurring role as Al Boulet on ER (1995–1997) and later became a series regular as FDNY paramedic Monte “Doc” Parker on Third Watch (1999–2005), for which he won an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series. Over the years he has delivered notable performances across genres — from critically acclaimed dramas like If Beale Street Could Talk (2018) and the billion-dollar blockbuster Aquaman (2018) to horror in Saw X (2023) and intense character work in Foster Boy (2019).

 

On television he has appeared in Sons of Anarchy, The 100, S.W.A.T., and a range of guest and recurring roles on procedural and dramatic series. In the mid-2020s Beach has continued his prolific output with high-profile roles as Captain Kareem Moore on Paramount+’s Mayor of Kingstown (2021–2025) and as Mark Mitchell on Tulsa King, along with starring roles in Netflix’s The Perfect Couple (2024) and appearances in Dead Boy Detectives and S.W.A.T. (2024). His ensemble work and long career of compelling performances have earned multiple nominations and awards, including Image Awards, film festival honors, and ensemble acting certificates, underscoring his versatility and enduring presence in entertainment as of early 2026.
