Biography

Maverick Carter (born October 10, 1981, in Akron, Ohio) is an American media executive, producer, and entrepreneur best known as the co-founder and CEO of The SpringHill Company, a multi-platform entertainment and marketing company he built alongside longtime business partner LeBron James. Rising from a background in sports marketing—including an early career at Nike—Carter transitioned into Hollywood as a powerful behind-the-scenes force, overseeing a slate of culturally driven film, television, and digital projects. Through SpringHill and its earlier iteration, SpringHill Entertainment, Carter has executive produced a wide range of content spanning documentary, scripted, and unscripted formats, beginning with the basketball documentary More Than a Game (2008) and expanding into notable television series such as Survivor’s Remorse (Starz), The Wall (NBC), Cleveland Hustles (CNBC), and The Shop (HBO), as well as documentaries including The Carter Effect and Shut Up and Dribble . His film and streaming credits include projects like Space Jam: A New Legacy (2021), Hustle (2022), and the Netflix limited series Self Made (2020), further solidifying his footprint across major studios and platforms.

 

Carter has also been instrumental in developing original series such as Becoming (Disney+) and The Crossover (Disney+), the latter earning a Children’s and Family Emmy Award for Outstanding Young Teen Series, adding to his growing list of accolades.

 

Across his body of work, he has accumulated multiple Emmy Awards and nominations, including wins for Outstanding Long Sports Documentary and Outstanding Edited Sports Series, along with recognition from the Black Reel Awards and Daytime Emmys .
