Biography

Kyla Alissa Pratt (born September 16, 1986 in Los Angeles, California) is an American actress and voice artist whose prolific career spans more than three decades, beginning with early television appearances in the 1990s and evolving into standout roles in family, comedy, and drama across film and TV. She first gained widespread attention as Maya Dolittle opposite Eddie Murphy in Dr. Dolittle (1998) and its sequels, later headlining the Dr. Dolittle direct-to-DVD franchise as its lead.

 

Pratt became a household name as Breanna Barnes on the long-running UPN sitcom One on One (2001–2006), and as the voice of Penny Proud in Disney Channel’s animated hit The Proud Family (and its 2022–present revival The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder), earning multiple NAACP Image Awards for Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance and nominations for her enduring work. Her film credits also include roles in Love & Basketball (2000), Fat Albert (2004), and Hotel for Dogs (2009), while her television career spans series like Let’s Stay Together, Call Me Kat, Duncanville, Animal Control, and the 2025 thriller Girl in the Cellar.

 

Beyond acting, Pratt was nominated for a Young Artist Award early in her career and has received recognition from the Blockbuster, Image, NAMIC Vision, and Ambies Awards throughout her journey from beloved child performer to accomplished adult artist, continuing to expand her range with voice work, dramatic roles, and genre versatility as of 2026.
