Biography
Katt Williams (born Micah Sierra Williams on September 2, 1971, in Cincinnati, Ohio) is an Emmy Award–winning American stand-up comedian, actor, writer, and producer widely regarded as one of the most distinctive voices in modern comedy. Rising from the stand-up circuit in the 1990s, Williams gained national recognition through appearances on Def Comedy Jam before transitioning into film and television. His breakthrough film role came as the flamboyant pimp “Money Mike” in Friday After Next (2002), which quickly became a cult favorite and helped establish his larger-than-life comedic persona. Over the following years he built an extensive film résumé with roles in projects such as Norbit (2007), First Sunday (2008), Epic Movie (2007), Scary Movie 5 (2013), Father Figures (2017), and The House Next Door: Meet the Blacks 2 (2021), while also lending his voice to the character “A Pimp Named Slickback” on the animated series The Boondocks.
Williams has also been a frequent television presence, with appearances on series such as My Wife and Kids and Wild ‘n Out, but he earned his most acclaimed acting recognition for his guest role as “Uncle Willy” in the FX series Atlanta. His performance in the episode “Alligator Man” won him the 2018 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series, marking one of the most celebrated moments of his acting career.
Parallel to his screen work, Williams has remained one of the most successful touring comedians of his generation. His stand-up specials—including The Pimp Chronicles, Pt. 1, It’s Pimpin’ Pimpin’, Kattpacalypse, Great America, and World War III—have earned both critical and commercial success, helping cement his reputation for sharp political commentary and fearless social satire. His 2024 Netflix special Katt Williams: Woke Foke became one of the platform’s most-watched comedy specials and later received a nomination for an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Variety (Series or Special).
In recent years, Williams has continued expanding his film presence and live performance career. In 2025 he appeared in the comedy film One of Them Days alongside Keke Palmer and SZA, a box-office success produced by Issa Rae’s Hoorae Media and released by Sony Pictures. At the same time, he remained a dominant force in stand-up, headlining major national tours and arena performances while releasing new material through streaming platforms. Williams was embarking on his ambitious “Golden Age” arena tour across North America, marking more than two decades as one of comedy’s most provocative and influential performers.
