Biography

James DuBose is an accomplished television producer, media executive, and entrepreneur best known as the founder and CEO of DuBose Entertainment, a production company that helped shape modern Black reality television and unscripted programming. A native of Greensboro, North Carolina, DuBose graduated from Wake Forest University with a degree in broadcast communications before launching his entertainment career in Los Angeles in the early 1990s. He first gained industry experience working alongside veteran producer Brad Lachman and later contributed as an associate producer for coverage surrounding the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. DuBose eventually became a co-executive producer on the groundbreaking reality dating series Blind Date, helping establish his reputation in unscripted television. In 2001, he launched DuBose Entertainment and quickly became one of the leading producers behind urban entertainment and celebrity-driven reality programming.

Throughout his career, DuBose has executive produced and developed a wide range of successful television projects for networks including BET, MTV, HBO, FOX, and E! Entertainment. His producing credits include acclaimed and culturally impactful series such as Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is, Monica: Still Standing, Tiny and Toya, Trey Songz: My Moment, Run’s House, WAGS Atlanta, Dish Nation, and P. Diddy Presents: The Bad Boys of Comedy. Many of these projects became ratings successes and helped redefine celebrity reality television for Black audiences during the 2000s and 2010s. His work on Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is was especially influential, becoming one of BET’s highest-rated programs at the time and solidifying DuBose as a major force in unscripted entertainment.

In recent years, DuBose has continued expanding his producing portfolio through film and television projects including Whatever It Takes and Who’s Cheating Who?, while also remaining active in the development of new scripted and unscripted content through DuBose Entertainment. Although he is best recognized for his producing achievements and industry influence rather than a long list of individual award wins, his impact on reality television and Black entertainment culture has made him a respected figure across Hollywood and cable television production.
