Biography
Harold Jackson III is an Emmy-nominated American filmmaker, writer, director and producer celebrated for his dynamic contributions to independent film and television. A United States Marine Corps veteran, Jackson holds a B.A. in Television Production from Kutztown University and a master’s degree in Film from American University in Washington, D.C., where his passion for visual storytelling first took form.
Jackson earned early acclaim with the feature Last Night (2014), which won Best Feature/Screenplay and Audience Choice honors at the American Black Film Festival and the North Carolina Black Film Festival. He received an Emmy nomination for his directing and producing work on the influential series Anacostia, marking a milestone in his television career.
Over the years, Jackson has built a diverse body of work across genres. His producing and executive producing credits include Liam White: The Forgettable Life of Liam White (2021), Once Upon a Time in the District (2023), Million to One (2023), Iceman: Book One (2023) and Gaslight (2022). He has also produced and directed shorts and features such as Unarmed Man (2019), Rob Gordon: Problematic (2020) and The Meek (2017).
In addition to film and TV series work, Jackson has expanded into new narratives and formats. His most recent projects slated for 2025–2026 include The Novelist (2025), where he serves as producer and executive producer, and A Christmas Bonus (2025). Beyond filmmaking, he is the author of the Amazon #1 New Release Melanin in Movies: Hollywood’s Propaganda, further establishing his voice as a cultural critic and thought leader.
Known for his commitment to authentic storytelling and support of emerging artists, Jackson continues to be a prominent creative force in independent cinema and television.
