DeWanda Wise (born DeWanda Jackson in Jessup, Maryland) is an American actress and producer widely recognized for her dynamic performances across television, film, and stage. A graduate of New York University Tisch School of the Arts, Wise began building her career with early television appearances in series such as Underground, Shots Fired, and The Twilight Zone, but achieved breakout recognition starring as Nola Darling in She’s Gotta Have It, Spike Lee’s Netflix adaptation of his 1986 film.
