Biography

Debbie Allen is an Emmy and Golden Globe Award–winning actress, director, producer, and choreographer whose career spans more than four decades across television, film, and stage. She is currently widely recognized for her long-running role as Dr. Catherine Fox on the hit ABC medical drama Grey’s Anatomy, where she has also served as a prolific director and executive producer, helping shape the creative direction of one of television’s most enduring series. Allen has directed dozens of episodes across the franchise, including its spinoff, Station 19, further cementing her influence behind the camera as one of Hollywood’s most respected multi-hyphenates.

 

Allen first rose to international prominence with her breakout role as dance instructor Lydia Grant in the Oscar-winning film Fame, a performance that earned her Golden Globe and Emmy nominations.
