Daniel Ezra is a British actor widely recognized for his emotionally layered performances across television and film, most notably as the lead of the hit American sports drama All American. Born on December 15, 1991, in Birmingham, England, Ezra trained at the prestigious East 15 Acting School and began his professional acting career in British television and film. His early screen work included roles in the BBC television film Murdered by My Boyfriend (2014), and acclaimed series such as The Missing, Undercover, and ITV’s Prime Suspect 1973, quickly establishing him as a promising dramatic talent in the United Kingdom. He also appeared in the fantasy drama A Discovery of Witches, further expanding his profile in international television. Ezra’s stage work earned him recognition as well, including a nomination for the prestigious Ian Charleson Award for his theatrical performance in Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night.

 

Ezra achieved international breakthrough status in 2018 when he was cast as Spencer James, the lead character in The CW’s critically acclaimed drama All American, inspired by the real-life story of NFL player Spencer Paysinger. His performance as a talented high school football player navigating identity, family, race, and ambition earned widespread praise and made him a central figure in one of the network’s most successful modern dramas. Over the course of more than 100 episodes between 2018 and 2025, Ezra’s portrayal of Spencer’s journey—from troubled teen to professional athlete—became one of television’s most compelling character arcs. His work on the series earned him a nomination for the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 2022, further solidifying his industry recognition.
