Biography

Cree Summer is a groundbreaking Canadian-American actress, singer, and one of the most prolific and influential voice performers in animation history, whose career spans more than four decades across television, film, and video games. Born July 7, 1969, in Los Angeles, California, she is the daughter of actor and musician Don Francks and rose to prominence in the late 1980s with her breakout live-action role as Freddie Brooks on the NBC sitcom A Different World, which established her as a recognizable on-screen talent before she became a defining voice of animation. Summer’s extensive voice career includes iconic roles such as Susie Carmichael in Rugrats, Princess Kida in Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001), Numbuh 5 and Cree Lincoln in Codename: Kids Next Door, Penny in Inspector Gadget, Elmyra Duff in Tiny Toon Adventures, Valerie Gray in Danny Phantom, Foxxy Love in Drawn Together, and Cleo in Clifford the Big Red Dog, among hundreds of other animated characters that have shaped multiple generations of viewers.
