Barton Fitzpatrick (born March 13, 1995, in Chicago, Illinois) is an American actor and musician best known for his breakout role as Reginald “Reg” Taylor on the critically acclaimed Showtime drama The Chi. Raised on Chicago’s West Side, Fitzpatrick developed an early interest in performance and participated in the prestigious August Wilson Monologue Competition before pursuing acting professionally. He began his on-screen career with guest appearances across Dick Wolf’s Chicago television universe, including Chicago Med, Chicago Justice, and Chicago P.D., quickly building a reputation for his naturalistic, street-level performances rooted in his hometown experiences.
Fitzpatrick’s career breakthrough came in 2018 when he was cast as Reg Taylor on The Chi, the coming-of-age drama created by Lena Waithe. His portrayal of the complex South Side gang leader earned strong fan recognition and helped establish the series as a major contemporary urban drama.
