Biography

Ashley Versher (born June 18, 1988, in San Francisco, California) is an American actress, filmmaker, writer, and producer recognized for her dynamic work across television, film, and independent cinema. Based in Los Angeles, Versher has built a multifaceted career that spans grounded character work on screen and creative leadership behind the camera.

 

Versher first gained widespread attention as U’Moriah Walters on the cult-favorite web series #LoveMyRoomie (2016–2021), where she also served as First Assistant Director in later seasons, showcasing her early interest in both performance and production. She transitioned to mainstream television with guest appearances on notable network series including NBC’s American Auto (2023) and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (2023), as well as Hulu’s Reasonable Doubt (2022).

 

In film, Versher’s profile grew with roles in the 2024 projects This Is Me… Now, a cinematic musical experience starring Jennifer Lopez in which she appears as The Idealist, and the series Beauty in Black (2024–2025), in which she portrays Lena across multiple episodes. She continued to expand her range with the 2025 feature Straw, portraying Tessa George alongside an ensemble cast.

 

Behind the camera, Versher has garnered critical praise as a writer-director with her 2023 short film Brief Exchanges, which she wrote, directed, produced, and starred in. The project enjoyed a successful film festival run—screening at 13 festivals and earning five awards, including Best Director and Best Actor accolades—highlighting her strength as a storyteller and independent filmmaker. Versher’s off-camera work also includes associate producing the MVAAFF-selected short Spot: A True Period Piece and serving as guest director on the limited series PillowTalk (2019).

 

Outside of her screen work, Versher is an advocate for diversity and mentorship in the arts, collaborating with organizations like Made In Her Image to support young filmmakers of color. She is also classically trained in violin and movement-based physical theater, disciplines that inform her holistic approach to performance and creation.
