André Holland (Moonlight, Love, Brooklyn) has officially joined Michael B. Jordan and Austin Butler in Universal’s highly anticipated action-thriller ‘Miami Vice ‘85.’
Although specific details about Holland’s role are still being kept under wraps, he joins a star-studded ensemble that includes Alden Ehrenreich, Whitney Peak, Camila Morrone, John Leguizamo, Danny Ramirez, and Walton Goggins.
Taking inspiration from “Brother’s Keeper,” the September 1984 pilot episode of the NBC series, ‘Miami Vice ’85’ offers a fresh take on the original concept, exploring the flashy allure and corruption of mid-1980s Miami.
Joseph Kosinski is set to direct from a screenplay by Dan Gilroy, who revised an earlier draft by Eric Warren Singer. The project draws on original characters created by Anthony Yerkovich, who executive produced the groundbreaking series alongside Michael Mann. Kosinski is also producing the feature under his banner alongside Dylan Clark of Dylan Clark Productions (The Batman, The Penguin).
‘Miami Vice ’85’ will be filmed for IMAX and is slated to begin production later this year ahead of its May 19, 2028 theatrical release.
