Biography
Femi Oladigbolu is a British-Nigerian writer, director, and editor known for visually distinctive storytelling that blends elements of African heritage with contemporary British culture. Emerging from South London’s vibrant creative scene, Oladigbolu first gained attention with early short films such as The Burrell Twins (2013) and Therapy (2013), which highlighted his interest in character-driven narratives and social realism. His later work continued to build momentum with projects like A Mustard Seed and the acclaimed short film Oba (2023), an Afrofuturist story inspired by Yoruba mythology that follows a young Londoner unexpectedly chosen to become a traditional king. The film screened at multiple international festivals, including several BAFTA- and Oscar-qualifying events, and helped establish Oladigbolu as a rising voice in global independent cinema.
Beyond narrative filmmaking, Oladigbolu has built a strong reputation directing music videos and commercial campaigns, particularly within the UK’s grime and contemporary music scenes. His video work for artists such as Jorja Smith, Stormzy, and Ezra Collective has earned industry recognition, including a UK Music Video Award for Best Hip-Hop/Grime Video for Pa Salieu’s “My Family,” along with multiple UKMVA nominations across categories. His creative output also includes branded projects for companies and organizations such as Apple, Adidas, HP, the Premier League, and Heathrow Airport. In 2025 he expanded his directing portfolio with the music documentary-style project Leigh-Anne: Been a Minute, continuing his move into larger-scale visual storytelling. As of February 2026, Oladigbolu remains an emerging filmmaker to watch, recognized for merging stylized visuals with culturally rooted narratives that explore identity, community, and the Black diaspora.
