Biography

DeShon Hardy is an American writer, producer, and director known for his work in independent film and television, particularly in the thriller, drama, and urban cinema spaces. After studying screenwriting and playwriting at the New York Film Academy, Hardy began building his career as a filmmaker with his breakout independent feature The Lake on Clinton Road, which he wrote and directed. The horror film secured international distribution through Gravitas Ventures and was released through Redbox before expanding to global streaming platforms, reaching audiences in more than 30 countries. The film’s success helped establish Hardy as an emerging independent filmmaker capable of producing commercially viable genre projects.

Hardy continued to develop his directing and producing career with the supernatural thriller Dwellers: The Curse of Pastor Stokes, which also received international distribution and became available across major digital platforms including Apple TV and Vudu. He later expanded into dramatic storytelling with A Message from Brianna, starring former NFL player Vernon Davis and Asia’h Epperson. The film earned Hardy a Best Director nomination at the American Black Film Festival, further elevating his reputation within the independent film circuit.

In 2021 and 2022, Hardy continued to build momentum with the drama Dear Best Friend, featuring Asia’h Epperson, Andra Fuller, Jeremy Meeks, and rapper Trina. The film aired on BET platforms and broadened Hardy’s visibility in the television movie market. Around the same time, he began expanding into television, producing and directing the sports-business reality series The Front Office, which was executive produced by NBA star Chris Paul and focused on athletes transitioning into entrepreneurship.

Hardy’s television work continued with the BET+ thriller anthology I Got a Story to Tell, which he created, wrote, and directed. He followed that success with the psychological drama Under His Influence, starring Iman Shumpert, Sydney Mitchell, Michael Michele, and Cynthia Bailey, further establishing his creative voice in the streaming era. His growing filmography also includes projects such as What Lies Under the Tree, as well as upcoming work including the short film Diamond and the documentary More Than a Trainer.

With more than a decade of experience in independent production, Hardy has developed a reputation as a multi-hyphenate filmmaker who writes, directs, and produces his own projects while building partnerships with athletes, entertainers, and streaming platforms. As of early 2026, he continues expanding his catalog of film and television projects while serving as co-owner of the production company MasterView Films, positioning himself as a growing voice in independent urban storytelling and digital distribution.
