Ms. Pat (born Patricia Williams on April 2, 1972, in Atlanta, Georgia) is an American stand-up comedian, actress, writer, and producer whose raw, autobiographical storytelling has made her one of the most distinctive comedic voices of the 21st century. Rising from a difficult upbringing marked by poverty, teenage motherhood, and time spent dealing drugs before eventually turning her life around, Williams began performing stand-up comedy in Atlanta in the early 2000s after encouragement from a caseworker. Her fearless, unfiltered comedic style quickly gained attention on the national stage through appearances on shows such as Last Comic Standing, Comedy Central’s This Is Not Happening, Mom’s Night Out, and the Netflix stand-up showcase The Degenerates, establishing her as a breakout talent in stand-up comedy. The show quickly became one of the streaming platform’s biggest hits, breaking viewership records upon its debut and earning widespread praise for its bold, honest exploration of difficult subjects including addiction, trauma, and family dynamics. The series has received multiple accolades, including three consecutive Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series (2022, 2023, and 2024) and nominations at the Black Reel Awards for Television, including Outstanding Lead Performance in a Comedy Series for Williams.
