Biography

Ranada Shepard is an accomplished television writer, producer, and showrunner known for creating bold, character-driven comedies that reflect contemporary culture with authenticity and humor. She is the creator, executive producer, and showrunner of the animated Netflix series Good Times (2024), a modern reimagining of Norman Lear’s iconic sitcom. The series, featuring the voices of Jay Pharoah, Marsai Martin, and Yvette Nicole Brown, marked a major milestone in Shepard’s career as she led the creative vision and development of the project from concept to screen.

 

Shepard has continued to build an impressive résumé through her work as a consulting producer and writer on the NBC comedy Lopez vs. Lopez, further demonstrating her ability to contribute to network television’s evolving comedic landscape. She also served as a writer and producer on the acclaimed animated series Young Love, based on the Oscar-winning short film Hair Love, and contributed as a co-executive producer and writer on the Bounce TV sitcom Act Your Age.

 

Earlier in her career, Shepard was the creator and co-executive producer of the TV One comedy series Born Again Virgin, which helped establish her as a strong new voice in television comedy. She also served as co-executive producer and writer on NBC’s pandemic-era comedy Connecting…, as well as a writer on Disney+’s Diary of a Future President. Her additional producing credits include work on the revival of Lizzie McGuire.
